Sheffield Steeldogs BHC Launches as affiliate to Sheffield Steelers Ball Hockey Club
Sheffield Steelers BHC is proud to officially announce the formation of the Sheffield Steeldogs Ball Hockey Club (BHC) – the newest addition to the growing national ball hockey structure. The team will serve as Sheffield Steelers BHC’s Division 3 affiliate, and will establish itself as a developmental hub for senior and junior players seeking an alternative pathway within the Steelers BHC system.
This exciting development is the next step in the Steeler’s commitment to offering its athletes clear progression pathways within the Steeler BHC structure.
Chris Slack, Chairman of the Sheffield Steelers BHC, said:
“The launch of the Sheffield Steeldogs BHC is a major milestone for the Club. By providing a development team for the Club we’re expanding opportunities for players of all levels to develop, compete, and stay connected to the game in a structured and professional environment.”
The Steeldogs BHC adults team will initially compete in the Central Conference Division 3 next season with a focus on developing emerging adult players from within the Sheffield region. The team will act as a stepping stone to the Steelers BHC team, while also ensuring players who are newer to the sport or returning to it can find a competitive home.
This announcement builds on recent momentum following the launch of the NHL Street Hockey program in the UK, which has further highlighted the importance of accessible, community-driven hockey opportunities for young people.”
Slack continued:
“We’re aligning with the Sheffield Steelers ice hockey teams plans to build a pipeline that’s inclusive, competitive, and locally rooted. The Steeldogs BHC will help create the future stars of the Steelers BHC and beyond. In addition, we hope to create a pathway for our players to then step up and make the transition over to ice skates and potentially onto the Steeldogs and Steelers professional ice hockey teams”
