STEELDOGS BEAT THE LIGHTNING

Your TriggerHub Sheffield Steeldogs took on the Milton Keynes Lightning. The Steeldogs knew what they was coming up against with a stacked Milton Keynes team.

Period 1 was an even period from both teams with both Alex Oldale and Jordan Hedley standing tall throughout the majority of the first. The Steeldogs finally broke the deadlock at 15:17 through Olly Knaggs who got his first goal in a Steeldogs jersey. A scramble infront of goal which Olly managed to get a strong enough tip to get the puck across the line to give the Steeldogs a 1-0 lead after the first 20!

Heading into period 2 the Steeldogs knew MK would come out with a different gameplan but the Steeldogs managed to keep a lead until 30:03 when Jordan Cownie tied the game after putting the puck past Oldale. Period 2 finished level at 1-1, Steeldogs showed many promising signs throughout the second period as they did in the first.

Period 3 was another great display from the Steeldogs who showed more promising signs. At 45:13 Kyle Watson scored the second goal of the night which gave the Steeldogs a lead which they managed to hold onto until 59:21 when Illia Korenchuk managed to to tie the game which sent the game to overtime.

It didn’t take long for the winner to be scored, and it was the Steeldogs managed to take the extra point with Jonathan Phillips getting the puck past Hedley.

Man of the Match awards went to #96 CJ Garcia for the Steeldogs and #1 Jordan Hedley was rewarded after a solid showing facing 46 shots.
