Steeldogs Suffer Setback on the Road in Telford

The Tigers made a fast start, opening the scoring at 2:49 through Rhodes Mitchell-King to take an early lead. Sheffield settled into the contest and pulled level early in the second period when Jonathan Philips finished well at 20:27, assisted by Walker Sommer and Bair Gendunov.

Sheffield briefly moved ahead midway through the game when Gendunov struck at 28:00, but the momentum swung sharply in Telford’s favour. Goals from Scott McKenzie and Harry Ferguson, followed by a quick double from Tate Shudra, saw the hosts race into a commanding position before the second intermission.

Telford added another early in the third period through David Thomson, extending their lead and leaving the Steeldogs with a mountain to climb. Sheffield continued to compete and reduced the deficit late on when Liam Steele converted a power-play opportunity at 57:21, assisted by David Phillips and Sommer.

However, Telford responded almost immediately to restore their advantage and close out the contest, leaving Sheffield unable to complete a late comeback.

Despite flashes of attacking quality, a costly spell in the middle of the game ultimately proved the difference for the Steeldogs on their travels.

Telford Tigers 6-3 Sheffield Steeldogs
