The Puck Stop Sheffield Steeldogs are pleased to confirm the signing of Dmitri Zimozdra for the remainder of the 2025/2026 season.
A familiar and respected presence among the Steeldogs faithful, Dima returns to Sheffield having previously spent several seasons representing the club. His understanding of the environment, expectations, and identity of the Steeldogs makes him a natural addition at a pivotal stage of the campaign.
Following his recent departure from the Hull Seahawks, Zimozdra arrives with valuable experience and the ability to make an immediate impact both on and off the ice. His return strengthens the group as the team enters one of the most important periods of the season, providing depth, composure, and leadership within the lineup.
Dima will go straight into the squad tonight as the Steeldogs travel to Leeds for the first leg of the Cup Final.
The club can also confirm that Alex Oldale will be unavailable for the remainder of the season. Everyone at the Steeldogs continues to support Alex and looks forward to welcoming him back around the group as he progresses.

“Bringing Dima back into the group was a decision that made complete sense for where we are in the season. He understands the standards expected here, he knows the environment, and he brings a level of experience and composure that is incredibly valuable at this stage of the campaign.
This isn’t simply about filling a spot, it’s about reinforcing the identity and continuity of the group as we head into crucial games. Dima has always carried himself the right way in Sheffield, and we’re confident he can make an immediate contribution both on the ice and within the dressing room.
The group has remained focused, tight-knit, and fully committed despite the challenges that naturally arise across a long season. The addition of Dima reflects that collective mindset; reinforcing the depth, professionalism, and readiness within the squad as everyone prepares to step up when needed.” – Jamie McIlroy, Sheffield Steeldogs GM
