The Sheffield Steeldogs travelled to Leeds in a thrilling contest that saw the hosts claim the win in the closing stages despite a strong comeback effort from the visitors.
Leeds made a fast start and opened the scoring at 1:45 through Finley Bradon, assisted by Oli Endicott. The Knights doubled their advantage at 14:56 when Matthew Bissonnette found the net from Samuel Cooper and Edgars Vengis. Leeds added a third late in the period at 19:50 as Bradon struck again, assisted by Sam Dunn and goaltender Sam Gospel, giving the hosts a 3-0 lead at the first intermission.
The Steeldogs responded well in the second period and began to turn the momentum. At 25:56 Michael Danečko got Sheffield on the board, finishing from Liam Steele and Finley Williams to cut the deficit.
Sheffield continued to build in the third period. Liam Steele pulled another goal back at 41:04 with Brady Doxey providing the assist. Just over three minutes later the comeback continued as Ivan Björkly-Nordström scored at 44:22 from Kyle Watson and Ben Morgan to bring the Steeldogs within one.
Leeds restored their two goal cushion at 53:18 when Balint Pakozdi scored on the power play from Sam Dunn and Liam Peyton. However, Sheffield refused to back down. After a Leeds penalty at 54:28, Joonas Larinmaa capitalised on the power play at 55:50, assisted by Björkly-Nordström, to make it a one goal game once again.
Leeds sealed the game at 58:52 when Oli Endicott scored 4-on-4 , assisted by Owen Sobchak, securing the win for the home side in the final moments.
