STEELDOGS FALL SHORT IN SWINDON

The Steeldogs hit the road for the final time in the 2025/2026 regular season with a trip to Swindon.

The game began with Swindon opening the scoring at 8:41 through Logan van de Meerakker. At 16:21, Jonathan Phillips brought the Steeldogs level at 1-1. However, Aaron Nell quickly restored the Wildcats’ lead at 17:55, making it 2-1. The Steeldogs responded before the break, with Joonas Larinmaa finding the net to tie the game at 2-2 heading into the first intermission.

Swindon came out strong in the second period, and Logan van de Meerakker grabbed his second of the night to put the Wildcats ahead 3-2. They maintained that one-goal advantage going into the second intermission.

The Wildcats struck again early in the third period, with Caden Villegas scoring just 37 seconds in to extend the lead to 4–2. The Steeldogs faced an uphill battle but continued to push. A late goal from Kyle Watson gave them a glimmer of hope, narrowing the score to 4-3.

Despite the late pressure, the Steeldogs were unable to find an equaliser before time expired. A well disciplined game with both teams recording zero penalty minutes.
