Club Statement – Richard Brammer

“It is with immense sadness that everyone at the Sheffield Steeldogs has learned of the passing of our Equipment Manager, Richard Brammer.

Rich was far more than just a member of staff; he was part of the very fabric of ice hockey in Sheffield. An ever-present figure at Ice Sheffield, he was a familiar and much-loved face, known to players, coaches, parents and supporters alike. Whether working tirelessly behind the scenes with the Steeldogs, lending his time and knowledge to the wider hockey community, or proudly supporting his own boys on their hockey journeys, Rich’s presence and influence could be felt everywhere.

Generations of players across Sheffield have benefitted from his mentorship, his guidance, and his unwavering willingness to help. He gave freely of his time and energy, ensuring others were supported and equipped to thrive, both on and off the ice. His impact on so many people’s lives is a true testament to his character; a man of kindness, generosity, and quiet dedication, who always placed the needs of others before his own.

Rich will be remembered not only for the incredible contribution he made to the sport, but for the friendships he built, the loyalty he showed, and the countless memories he created along the way. He leaves behind a legacy that will endure within Sheffield hockey for many years to come.

At this most difficult of times, our deepest thoughts and heartfelt sympathies are with his wife, Louise, and their three sons, Jack, Jacob, and Joseph. On behalf of the entire Steeldogs organisation, we extend our love and support to them and to all those who were fortunate enough to know Rich.

He will be greatly missed by us all.
