The TriggerHub Sheffield Steeldogs are pleased to welcome back Michael “Mikey” Danecko for the 2025/26 season!
Mikey is no stranger to the Steeldogs, having previously worn our jersey from the 2021/22 to 2023/24 seasons. His return brings added depth, energy, and offensive talent to our lineup.
Last season, Mikey split his time between the Leeds Knights NIHL and Leeds Knights 2, where he showcased both his versatility and consistency. With Knights 2, he racked up 49 points in 36 games across all competitions. He also made 21 appearances for the senior Leeds Knights squad in the NIHL.
Danecko: “I’m excited to be coming back home to Sheffield, where it all started, and rejoining the Dogs! I can’t wait to get back out there, playing under Slava and getting going again. Me and Slava have been talking for a while, and I truly believe he’s the right person to help develop my game and push me to be even better. Really looking forward to what’s ahead! Slava Koulikov: “Really excited to bring Mikey into the team. He’s a young British forward with a tremendous desire to succeed and a great attitude both on and off the ice. From our conversations and what I’ve seen, he’s the kind of player who’s willing to do whatever it takes—he works hard every shift and is always looking to improve. I’m looking forward to helping him take the next steps in his development and watching him grow in our environment.”
