We’re thrilled to welcome back a familiar face to Sheffield in Kyle Watson, who joins the Steeldogs on a two-way agreement with the Steelers. 

Kyle cut his teeth in the Sheffield junior hockey system developing his game at IceSheffield before making the leap overseas in 2016.  His path took him through the North American junior ranks and eventually to Trine University, where he spent four seasons in the NCAA Division III circuit.  His time in the U.S. helped refine his two-way instincts, vision on the ice and commitment to a complete game. 

A natural playmaker with a sharp hockey IQ, Kyle brings versatility, grit and steady work ethic to our forward lines.  He has always expressed a deep connection to Sheffield hockey — it’s home — and returning now provides a chance to represent the city again and push for success. 

Kyle has talked openly about his ambitions: to establish himself as a mainstay at Elite League level, to develop within the Steeldogs/Steelers partnership, and to contribute meaningfully both offensively and in all-round play.  He’s expected to bring energy, intelligent decision-making under pressure, and a willingness to chip in wherever needed.

Fans will enjoy watching how Kyle’s experiences abroad translate back into his home city’s jersey. Welcome back — we can’t wait to see you in action at iceSheffield.
