Biography

Maks Maslak is an exciting young British forward who arrives in Sheffield after spending the last three seasons developing his game in two of Europe’s established hockey nations. Born in Sanok, Poland in 2006, Maslak grew up within the British hockey system and came through the Streatham junior programme in London.

At 17, he moved to Finland to join TUTO Hockey for the 2023/24 season, making 37 appearances at U18 level. The move provided his first experience of playing and training within a full-time European development environment and represented an important step in his progression.

A year later, Maslak moved countries again, this time joining HK Michalovce in Slovakia. He spent two seasons within the Michalovce U20 programme and made significant progress during his time there. After recording 10 goals and five assists in 36 regular-season games during 2024/25, he increased that return to 12 goals and 11 assists from 45 games the following year.

His development overseas has run alongside his progression through the Great Britain junior programme. Maslak represented GB at the 2024 IIHF U18 World Championship Division II Group A tournament, recording a goal and an assist in five appearances, before stepping up to represent Great Britain at U20 level the following season.

After three years developing abroad, Maslak made the decision to return to British hockey in the summer of 2026.

The Steeldogs secured his signature on a three-year agreement, committing the young forward to Sheffield through to the end of the 2028/29 season and giving him the opportunity to make the transition from junior hockey into the senior game.

Capable of playing on the right wing or through the middle, Maslak is a 5’11”, left-shooting forward. His experience in Britain, Finland and Slovakia has exposed him to different styles of hockey at an important stage of his development, while his time overseas has required him to adapt both on and off the ice.

Still only 20 years old, Maslak returns to Britain with three seasons of European junior hockey behind him and plenty of room to continue developing. With the Steeldogs making a long-term commitment to him, Sheffield now provides the environment for him to establish himself at senior level and turn that potential into consistent performances in the NIHL National.
