MATCH REPORT – Edinburgh Capitals 2-14 Sheffield Steeldogs

Our second game of the weekend consisted of a goal fest for the Steeldogs. The Dogs put up a big performance on Sunday night vs Edinburgh.

Period one began with tons of pressure from the Steeldogs. They would finally breakthrough with a goal from Joonas Larinmaa which started set the rest of his teammates. Bair Gendunov would go on to score the next three goals for the Steeldogs giving the dogs a 4-0 lead. Larinmaa would add his second of the night to make it 5-0 to the Steeldogs. Jono Phillips add the sixth of the game which was then followed up by a Walker Sommer call making the score after just twenty minutes 7-0 to the Steeldogs.

Heading into the second period the Capitals started strong and they would get themself on the scoreboard with a goal from Grigors. The game became even until Liam Steele netted his first Steeldogs goal which was followed up by a second goal for Walker Sommer. The Capitals quickly reacted and they got their second of the night coming from McNulty. Gendunov would net his fourth shortly after making it 10-2 to the Steeldogs. Nathan Ripley drove down the ice and slotted one into the back of the net. Walker Sommer went on to get his 3rd of the game to make it 12-2 to the Steeldogs at the end of the second period.

Heading into the the third the Dogs new the job was done, they also knew they would be able to add a couple more goals for extra measure. A well worked goal for Andras Kehl who received the pass from young Joe Matthewman. A couple of penalties for the Steeldogs in the third period wouldn’t lead to much. The final goal of the game came from our sniper Walker Sommer.
