Period one began with both teams showing a lot of fight and urgency to get the first goal on the board. Swindon would get the first goal of the game with Glenn Billing rifling the puck past Oldale at 6:31. More sustained pressure from the Steeldogs soon paid of with Bair Gendunov slotting the puck past Marr at 10:15. At the end of a fast-paced first period, both teams were tied.
The second period began the same way as the first period. Neither team managed to get on the board until Swindon scored a late goal in the second period. Tomasz Malasinski scored the late goal in the second at 39:32.
Onto period three, the Wildcats had a lot of the momentum for most of the period. At 46:52, Ed Bradley would add a third for the Wildcats going bar down on Oldale. The third goal gave Swindon a massive boost to see the game out and to make sure they took all two points away from the Steeldogs. Swindon got their second of the period through Edgars Bebris at 53:59, which sealed the game.
A tough second weekend of the season for the Steeldogs. But they do come away with one point on the weekend from Friday’s penalty shootout defeat.
