Match Report – Steeldogs Vs Sharks

Game 2 of the weekend between the Bradfield Brewery Sheffield Steeldogs and the Solway Sharks got off to a lively start for a preseason fixture!

Murray found time and space in the slot to give the visitors the lead. After a lengthy delay due to plexi issues, Dunbar shrugged off attention to find the net just past the midway point of the period. Bissonnette, Brownley and Vulkanovs were amongst the Dogs forcing saves from Warburton but he remained unbeaten as the period ended.

0-2

The Dogs came out hard with persistent pressure on the Sharks goal, although Henderson nearly slid one past Zimozdra. There was a reward for the boys in orange as they scored on a power play; newly appointed alternate captain Vulkanovs getting credit on a Bissonnette feed. A hard fought second session ended with a 1-2 scoreline.

The puck dropped for the final period and the Dogs worked an opportunity for themselves with Vulkanovs and Brownley combining but Warburton was unphased in the end. More persistence paid off for Sheffield as Brownley added a second for the Steeldogs. Going into the final 10 minutes of the game, the Sharks put their stamp on the game with a goal from Gardiner and a late power play goal from McKenzie.
