Match Report – Steeldogs Vs Seahawks

Steeldogs 4 – 1 Seahawks

Tonight was the first chance to see Dan Crowe in between the pipes at iceSheffield and he certainly put in a great performance throughout the game. A couple of the under 18s also got their chance to dress for the Steeldogs, as Jacob Brammer and Aiden Dancer took their place in the line up too.

The first period saw both teams getting to grips with the flow of the game, chances were at a premium. Spurr put the Steeldogs into the lead on a late powerplay, assisted by Kirk and Bissonnette.

Moving into the second period the Seahawks got on the board through a Chamberlain marker. The Steeldogs struck straight back with a brilliant individual goal from young Tate Shudra. Dan Crowe was the busier of the netminders during the middle period, but the Seahawks couldn’t get past the Steeldogs netminder. Despite a number of chances, there were no further goals in the period.

The final period provided a further two goals for the Steeldogs. With two Seahawks in the box, Vulkanovs made it 3-1 and Bissonnette wrapped up the game with an empty netter in the final minute.

Man of the match awards were presented to Bobby Young and Dan Crowe.

A vital run out for both teams, a chance for both coaches to tinker with lines and give some of the younger players opportunities – Sheffield v Hull – game 1 completed.
