Canadian forward Bair Gendunov signs with the Sheffield Steeldogs for the 2025–26 season, bringing high-end scoring ability and international experience to the offensive unit.
A native of Toronto, Gendunov is a former MJAHL league leader in goals, assists, and points, with 72 points in the 2019–20 season for the South Shore Lumberjacks. He followed that up with a 53-point campaign for the Truro Bearcats in 2020–21 before making the jump to professional hockey in North America.
Gendunov has since suited up across the SPHL and ECHL with Huntsville, Birmingham, Cincinnati, Tulsa, and Evansville—proving himself a consistent offensive contributor wherever he’s played. Most recently, he spent the 2024–25 season in Germany’s third tier with SC Riessersee, where he posted 59 points in 46 regular-season games, plus six more in the playoffs.
With a powerful shot, strong frame, and playmaking instincts, Gendunov is expected to be a major offensive threat in the NIHL.
GM Jamie McIlroy said:
“Bair is a proven scorer who has produced at every level he’s played. He’s got a real knack for finding space, making plays, and finishing chances. He brings size, skill, and professionalism—everything we look for in a top-six forward. We’re thrilled to bring him to Sheffield.”
