Club captain Jonathan Kirk returns for the 2025–26 season, continuing his long-standing commitment to the Sheffield Steeldogs and his role as one of the most respected leaders in the NIHL.

Born in Maltby and developed through the Sheffield IHA system, Kirk brings over a decade of senior experience across the EPIHL and NIHL, including successful spells with the Hull Pirates and an extensive run in the GB national junior programmes. Since rejoining the Steeldogs in 2021, he has been a cornerstone of the team’s blue line—balancing shutdown defensive duties with strong puck movement and leadership on and off the ice.

In 2024–25, Kirk recorded 35 points in 54 games and wore the “C” with distinction for the second consecutive season. Known for his calm presence, intelligent play, and ability to guide younger players, Kirk remains one of the most consistent and trusted defencemen in the league.
