Seahawks Pull Away in Third Period at IceSheffield

The Sheffield Steeldogs hosted the Hull Seahawks but a difficult third period saw the visitors take control of the contest.

The opening period ended scoreless as both teams settled into the game with Brady Parker starting in goal for the Steeldogs.

In the second period Sheffield struck first while short handed. After Michael Danečko was penalised for tripping at 30:36, Nathan Ripley produced a big moment at 31:33, scoring a short handed goal assisted by Ivan Björkly Nordström and Ben Morgan to give the Steeldogs the lead.

Hull responded strongly in the third period. Johnny Corneil levelled the game at 41:00 on the power play from Jordan Stallard before Bobby Chamberlain added another power play goal at 42:36 with Corneil and Jordan Stallard assisting. Corneil then scored his second of the night at 45:14, assisted by Bobby Chamberlain and Dylan Hehir, to extend the Seahawks’ advantage.

The Steeldogs pushed late, pulling their netminder and using a timeout at 58:45 in a final attempt to find a way back, but Hull held firm to secure the win.
