The Sheffield Steeldogs were involved in a dramatic, high-scoring encounter away in Solway, producing a dominant second-period display before a late Sharks comeback added tension to the closing stages.
After a physical opening period that saw penalties on both sides, the Steeldogs burst into life in the second. Walker Sommer opened the scoring at 25:23, before quick-fire goals from Joe Lynch, Liam Steele, and Bair Gendunov gave Sheffield full control. A power-play goal from Sommer at 30:53 and another man-advantage strike from Ivan Björkly-Nordström at 39:45 capped a devastating period for the visitors.
Sheffield continued to press in the third, with Bailey Yates scoring at 45:23, followed by a power-play goal from Bair Gendunov at 48:22. Solway responded late with three goals in the final five minutes through Jonathan Yantsis, Dylan Stewart, and Michael Hodge, but the Steeldogs held firm through a scrappy final minute that ended with multiple penalties.
Despite the late pressure, Sheffield’s second-period dominance proved decisive in a memorable night in Solway.
