Hull opened the scoring at 11:35 through Emil Švec, assisted by Jordan Stallard and Bobby Chamberlain. The Steeldogs responded well and drew level at 18:03 when Michael Danečko found the net to send the sides into the first intermission all square.
The second period proved decisive. Lee Bonner restored Hull’s lead at 28:57 before Jack Musil added a power play goal at 31:40 following a tripping call on Finley Williams. Tempers flared shortly after with fighting majors handed to Michael Danečko and Richard Hartmann at 31:56.
Johnny Corneil extended the Seahawks’ advantage at 39:12, giving the visitors breathing room heading into the final period.
Sheffield came out with intent in the third. Ivan Björkly Nordström reduced the deficit at 41:26, assisted by Bailey Yates and Nathan Ripley. Hull answered through Jason Hewitt at 44:07 to maintain their cushion.
With pressure building and penalties on both sides, the Steeldogs capitalised on the power play at 50:49 as Kyle Watson fired home from Liam Steele to keep the contest alive. A late bench minor for too many men added further drama, and Sheffield rotated their netminder for an extra skater in the closing stages in a final push for a comeback.
Despite the late pressure, the Steeldogs were unable to find another breakthrough as the game came to its conclusion.
