The TriggerHub Sheffield Steeldogs made the long trip down south to Bristol to face the Bristol Pitbulls in a League/Cup matchup.
Period 1 began with both teams showing high energy levels. Both sets of teams showed 100% effort throughout the whole game. Bristol would draw first blood with John Dunbar scoring for the Pitbulls to give them the edge after the first 20 minutes.
Period 2 started the same way period 1 began with both teams showing hard grit and determination. Tim Smith ripped one top shelf at 30:59 to get the game level. It didn’t take long for the Pitbulls to respond with Josh Batch netting the Pitbulls’ second of the night. Bristol led 2-1 after 40 minutes.
At 49:34 Jacob Bryceland got called for a 2-minute tripping minor which meant the Steeldogs would go onto the powerplay. Just seconds later Ivan Bjorkly-Nordstrom got the Steeldogs back level with a powerplay goal. At the end of regulation the teams were tied at 2-2.
The Steeldogs knew they had to come away with maximum points with this game also going towards the league cup. Steeldogs would have all the chances in the overtime period with the Pitbulls struggling to contain the Steeldogs’ offensive firepower. A Walker Sommer shot which was re-directed by Kyle Watson straight past Tommy Nappier giving the Steeldogs a big 2 points on the road.
