STEELDOGS EDGE LIGHTNING 4-3 AFTER SHOOTOUT!!

This weekend sees the Steeldogs hit the road both Saturday and Sunday. The first stop on the double away header was Milton Keynes.

The Steeldogs struck first in the opening period when Walker Sommer converted at 06:22, but MK hit back through Sean Norris midway through the frame. Sheffield regained the lead late in the period with Nathan Ripley finishing off a well-worked play at 15:43.

Milton Keynes responded strongly in the second, turning the game around with two goals in under eight minutes – a power-play strike from Jarvis Hunt at 23:16, followed by Dominik Gabaj at 30:13 – giving the hosts a 3–2 advantage heading into the third.

The Steeldogs found their lifeline at 51:03 when Michael Danečko buried the equaliser, assisted by Emil Oksanen, forcing the game beyond regulation. With penalties on both sides adding tension but no further goals, nothing was settled in the overtime period so the contest went to a shootout.

Bair Gendunov drew the Steeldogs level in the fourth round, and a string of misses from both sides kept it tied at 1–1.

In the eleventh round, Kyle Watson calmly scored to give Sheffield a 2-1 lead. Brady Parker then stopped Gabaj on MK’s final attempt, securing the shootout and the road win for the Steeldogs.

CJ Garcia was granted the Man of the Match honours.
