The Sheffield Steeldogs played their final game of the 2025/2026 regular season against the Basingstoke Bison.
The Steeldogs came out as the stronger side in the first period, applying heavy pressure that the Bison struggled to handle. It took just 1:36 for Joonas Larinmaa to open the scoring. Despite the early dominance, Basingstoke responded at 8:20 through Luke Spadafora to level the game at 1-1.
The sides remained tied heading into the second period. As the game progressed, the Bison grew into it and created more pressure of their own. However, it was the Steeldogs who regained the lead late in the period, with Bair Gendunov scoring at 39:34 to make it 2-1 after forty minutes.
Gendunov carried that momentum into the third period, scoring his second of the night at 45:01 to extend the lead to 3-1. The Bison refused to back down and pulled a goal back shortly after through Will Stead, keeping the game alive.
In the closing moments, Michael Danecko sealed the victory for the Steeldogs with an empty-net goal.
