STEELDOGS PROSPECT PROGRAMME IN FULL SWING AFTER 4 PROSPECTS PUT PEN TO PAPER

The TriggerHub Sheffield Steeldogs are very pleased to confirm the two-way signings of Jacob Brammer, Ben Cutts, Aiden Dancer, and Joe Matthewman for the upcoming season. All four of these players are proud products of the Sheffield Academy and represent exactly what we want to achieve with our development model: homegrown talent with drive, ambition, and a deep understanding of what it means to be a Steeldog.

Since launching the Premier Player Pathway last season, we’ve made it clear that our objective is not just to develop players, but to create a culture of competition, professionalism, and growth across every level of the organisation. These young men will continue their progress with valuable ice time for the Sheffield Scimitars in NIHL1, while training and competing within our Steeldogs environment. That dual commitment allows them to refine their game, test themselves against higher standards, and be ready when their opportunity comes.

Slava and I are aligned in our belief that no spot in the Steeldogs lineup should ever be guaranteed. Our aim is to create an environment where players never rest on their laurels, but instead use every training session, every shift, and every opportunity as a platform to improve. These four players will challenge for places and raise the level of internal competition, which ultimately strengthens the entire team.

The message is clear: if you’re part of the Sheffield Academy, you work hard, and you’re willing to fight for your place, there is a pathway to our senior roster. We’re excited to see how Aiden, Ben, Jacob, and Joe respond to this opportunity, and we believe they will set a strong example for other players in the system who aspire to follow in their footsteps.

With that in mind, we will also have the next crop of prospects involved and training with our squad throughout this Season. Harry Roebuck, Will Weaver and Finley Williams impressed us during our Prospects Sessions last month. It’s important to have these younger players exposed to the level of competition and speed of play at National League level as early as possible.”
