The Sheffield Steeldogs are National Cup Finalists after beating the Peterborough Phantoms 5–1 at IceSheffield.
The Steeldogs came out firing. At 5:05, Walker Sommer got the first goal of the night, giving the Steeldogs an early lead in the second leg of the semi-final. More pressure followed from the Steeldogs, which led to a second goal, this time from Bair Gendunov at 10:53. Ivan Björkly-Nordström made it three at 13:26, sending the Steeldogs into the first intermission with a three-goal lead.
Bair Gendunov came straight out of the traps in the second period, making it four at 24:51. The Steeldogs went into the third period leading 4–0.
Peterborough came out with more fight in the third, but it was too late for them to claw their way back into the tie. Bair Gendunov completed his hat-trick at 46:32 on the power play, capping off the scoring for the Steeldogs. The Phantoms finally found the back of the net at 49:39 through Jasper Foster.
