Steeldogs Secure 5-3 Win Against Phantoms with Tremblay Hat-Trick

The Bradfield Brewery Sheffield Steeldogs were still in search of more points to move higher up the NIHL table however tonight they faced Peterborough Phantoms, the last time these two teams faced each other the Steeldogs won 5-3 and they have done it again and won 5-3 once more against the Peterborough Phantoms.

The lineup was changed slightly for this game (against the Phantoms) with a few new additions to the squad since the Sheffield Steeldogs’ last game against the Bristol Pitbulls where they suffered a 5-3 loss, firstly Finley Ulrick returns to the club after playing against Coventry Blaze with the victorious Sheffield Steelers last week, the young prospect Jacob Brammer also played tonight for the club however Tim Smith was unfortunately unavailable for this game as well as Ivan Bjorkly Nordstrom who was still injured.

Period 1

Peterborough Phantoms came out strong with an early goal in the first 12 seconds scored by Cameron Hough which immediately rattled the Steeldogs and put them in motion to try tie up the game, Clarke -Pizzo was one of many who put accurate shots on target but in the end a penalty against the Phantoms gave the Steeldogs the opportunity for a powerplay. The Dogsseized this chance putting a goal in at the likes of Elmeri Hallfors. However, the Phantoms came back quickly with an answer as a beautiful pass was played across the ice to Nathan Salem who put the puck past Ben Norton. More attempts from both teams came after this until Jonathon Phillips had a great attempt which hit the iron of the net and found its way in,levelling the game (2-2) to go into period 2.

Period 2

The Steeldogs came out fighting into the second period with some great link up play between Elmeri Hallfors and Sam Tremblay however nothing came of this, Ben Norton played phenomenally this period making some really crucial saves. Nathan Salem was really becoming a threat for the Steeldogs trying again and again to get past Ben Norton however he remained unsuccessful, a chance then came for the Dogs with Sam Tremblay who scored an unassisted goal and put it straight past Hayden Lavigne. Yet this success was short lived as Luke Ferrara for the Phantoms scored putting the game at three all, the Phantoms built from this with Palmer feeding passes in and around the blue paint however none of them were converted into a goal. The game remained level again going into period 3!

Period 3

Again, the Steeldogs came out wanting to win and due to this in just over 40 seconds Sam Tremblay would score the fourth for the Dogs, attempts were then made by both teams Ferrara for the Phantoms came close, but Norton again denied him the goal opportunity. The rest of the period was back and forth up both ends of the ice however in the closing 2 minutes Tremblay would get his hat trick and score an empty netter to seal the game!
