The Steeldogs take a heavy loss on the road in the Yorkshire Derby, as they lose against the Seahawks 8-2.
They come into their second out of the third game of the weekend with a slightly changed line-up. Ben Norton got the start in net and they were left without Fin Ulrick who joined the Steelers lineup.
Period One (1-1)
Owen Sobchak opened the scoring, after a dominant start to the game, by going top-shelf on the powerplay just two minutes into the game.
Nathan Ripley got his second goal of the season as he fed the puck through the legs of Jordan Mclaughlin. This gave the Steeldogs some momentum which led to a competitive first period.
Period Two (4-1)
It didn’t get long for the Seahawks to open the scoring in the second period. It started with McLaughlin making a brilliant save before they went down the other end of the ice and scored through Owen Bruton.
Hodkingson added a third for the home side through a backhand shot as he managed to control the puck well.
Bruton got his second of the night on a five-minute powerplay following a centring pass from Tom Stubley.
Period Three (8-2)
The home team got another early goal through James Spurr as he tipped the puck past Norton.
Johnny Corneill added another goal to the Seahawks tally in quick succession.
Tom Stubley added a seventh goal for the home side as he drilled the puck home to bring a strong penalty kill to an end.
Declan Jones went one-on-one with Norton straight from the face-off, while the hosts are short-handed, to bring their total up to eight.
Sam Tremblay managed to reduce the deficit to six for the Dogs on the powerplay, firing the puck top shelf over the shoulder of McLaughlin.
