Peterborough hit back hard in the second. Dillon Lawrence scored just 35 seconds in, followed by a powerplay goal from Cameron Hough to level the game. Luke Ferrara then put the Phantoms ahead, but Kyle Watson replied for Sheffield before Ferrara netted again to make it 4-3.

A tense third period followed. With Garcia in the box for high-sticking at 46:19, the Steeldogs stunned the hosts just 14 seconds later as Cole Shudra scored shorthanded, tying the game 4-4.
