The game got off to a quick start with Steeldogs having a lot more of the possesion for the majority of the first period. It took the Steeldogs just 3:08 to get the first goal on the board. CJ Garcia with a blueline blast putting the puck straight past Marr to make it 1-0. Solway held the Steeldogs to just the one goal lead.



The second period started how it finished with the Steeldogs getting a second of the night at 22:21 with Tim Smith getting on the scoresheet. Solway fought hard and came back to hurt the Steeldogs with a clot of goals. The first goal came at 29:11 with import Dylan Stewart getting the Sharks on the board. Solway’s first goal was closely followed by a goal from Carter Hamill at 32:32. Again not much time went by before Duncan Speirs netted the Sharks’ 3rd goal of the period. At 37:35 Slava Koulikov called a timeout to try and regroup the Steeldogs. At 38:18 Solway scored their 4th with Liam Stenton putting the puck past Crowe. A change in goal for the Steeldogs with Dan Crowe leaving the crease and Alex Oldale coming in. At 39:31 the Steeldogs would get a goal of their own with Walker Sommer lighting the lamp on the powerplay. Just 11 seconds went by and Solway scored their 5th goal of the second period with Derek Osik getting his name on the scoresheet. At the end of the second period Solway led the Steeldogs 5-3.


Going into the third period the Steeldogs knew they had work to do. It took just 2:14 into the third period when Ivan Björkly-Nordström put the puck into the Solway net to get the game within one. Time was ticking for the Steeldogs and they knew they needed the next goal to get this game tied but it would be Solway who got the goal at 51:05 with Duncan Speirs getting his second of the game. The Steeldogs soon answered back with Jack Brammer scoring a beautiful goal to get the Steeldogs back within one. Solway saw the game out well and made sure they went back to Scotland with maximum points.
