5 UNANSWERED 3RD PERIOD GOALS SEALS 2 POINTS

The Steeldogs were coming into this game on a hot streak after winning their last four games. The game started slowly for the Steeldogs. Despite the slow start the Dogs managed to open the scoring through Liam Steele at 5:47. Solway soon equalised at 6:53 with Jake Bolton firing the puck past Crowe. Liam Steele found himself in the penalty box for a delay of game call. Solway capitalised on the man advantage with import Derek Osik giving Solway the 1 goal lead at 8:42. It didn’t take long before the Steeldogs answered back with a goal of their own. Joonas Larinmaa got his name on the scoresheet which took him to 4 goals in his last 5 games. Bair Gendunov and Tim Smith were granted the assists. At the end of the first period the games was tied at two a piece.

Fans didn’t know what to expect in the second period after a really close first period. Once again the Steeldogs got themself an early goal at the start of the second with Nathan Ripley finding the back of the net. It was some great skill by Andras Kehl who managed to get away from a couple of Solway players and manage to keep the puck while on his knees which he then passed out to Ripley to get the Steeldogs’ 3rd goal of the night. Solway answered back a short while after, Derek Osik got his second goal of the night for Solway at 27:32. That would be all the action in the second stanza.

Steeldogs came out flying in the third period. Goal 4 for the Steeldogs came from Ivan Bjorkly-Nordstrom at 43:44 to give the Steeldogs the lead. At 46:09 Ivan got his second of the night which gave the Steeldogs a 2-goal advantage. Hope we restored for the Steeldogs after a slow opening 40 minutes. In quick succession captain Kirk managed to get himself a goal with a shot from the point finding the back of the net at 46:43 Solway called a timeout which didn’t help them. Carter Hamill found himself in the penalty box at 47:10 for a hooking call. Less than a minute into the powerplay Liam Steele sniped the puck past Jordan Marr to make it 7-3 to the Steeldogs. A change in goal for the Sharks saw Jordan Marr exit the game and Calum Hepburn enter the crease. That wouldn’t be it though for the Steeldogs as young Jacob Brammer scored his first goal of the season and celebrated hard. Joe Matthewman managed to get a slight touch on the puck which gave him his first pro point for the Steeldogs!

Final Score: Sheffield Steeldogs 8-3 Solway Sharks

Man of the Match for the Steeldogs went to young Jacob Brammer which was chosen by Jack Brammer!
