Brady Doxey Signs On for Seventh Steeldogs Season

The Sheffield Steeldogs are delighted to announce that Brady Doxey has re-signed with the club ahead of the 2026/27 NIHL National season.

The upcoming campaign will mark Doxey’s seventh consecutive season in Sheffield, further establishing him as one of the club’s most dependable and respected figures. During his time with the Steeldogs, Brady has earned a reputation for his consistency, professionalism, and commitment to the standards expected within the dressing room.

That contribution has been recognised directly by his teammates, with Doxey voted the club’s Unsung Hero in each of the last two seasons; an award determined internally by the playing group and one that reflects the regard in which he is held across the team.

Renowned for his work ethic, versatility, and willingness to put the team above individual recognition, Doxey has continually embraced whatever role has been asked of him. Whether deployed in defensive assignments, special teams situations, or different positions throughout the forward group, he has consistently provided stability and trust in key moments.

His adaptability remains one of his greatest strengths. Comfortable across multiple roles and relied upon in high-pressure situations, Doxey has become an invaluable presence both on and off the ice.

General Manager Jamie McIlroy believes Doxey’s influence extends far beyond the scoresheet.

“Brady embodies exactly what we want the Sheffield Steeldogs to represent. Every season, he arrives with a fantastic attitude, an outstanding work ethic, and a complete commitment to doing whatever gives the team the best chance of success.

There are players whose value goes far beyond points production, and Brady is unquestionably one of them. The fact he has been voted our Unsung Hero by his teammates in back-to-back seasons says everything about the respect he has earned within that dressing room. He fully embraces the standards and identity we are continuing to build in Sheffield. He’s dependable, selfless, extremely coachable, and somebody the group trusts completely. His versatility is also hugely valuable for us because he can contribute in so many different situations and always approaches those responsibilities the right way.

Whether it’s taking an important face-off late in a game, handling difficult defensive minutes, or bringing energy and accountability to the bench every night, Brady consistently delivers exactly what the team needs.

Players like Brady are essential to successful teams because they put collective success ahead of themselves every single day. Having somebody like him return for a seventh season brings important continuity and leadership to our group, and we’re delighted to have him back for another year.”

As preparations continue for the 2026/27 campaign, Doxey’s return adds another key piece of experience, character, and continuity to a Steeldogs roster that is continuing to take shape ahead of the new season.
