Sunday Hockey Action for All the Family at 4.00pm
The Sheffield Steeldogs are back on home ice this Sunday when Solway visit iceSheffield for another early-season NIHL National encounter. Tickets HERE
Face-off is at 4.00pm, with both sides completing the second half of a demanding weekend double-header. Sheffield travel to Telford Tigers on Saturday night, while Solway are at home to Swindon Wildcats before making the journey south to Sheffield.
And these are two teams who already know plenty about each other.
Sunday will be their fourth meeting of September following two pre-season contests and their league clash in Dumfries on the opening weekend of the new campaign.
Solway took the first pre-season meeting 5-2 before the Steeldogs responded emphatically the following afternoon with a 6-1 victory at iceSheffield.

Opening Weekend Revenge on the Agenda
The first competitive meeting came last Saturday in Dumfries and proved considerably tighter.
Solway edged the Steeldogs 4-3, with three power-play goals helping the Scottish side to victory. Jonathan Yantsis scored twice, including the game-winning goal.
Sheffield responded well the following afternoon in their first home league game of the season.
The Steeldogs and Swindon Wildcats were locked in a goaltending battle at iceSheffield, with Nathan Salem scoring Sheffield’s regulation goal before the game eventually went to a penalty shootout.
CJ Garcia was the only player to convert in the shootout, while Shane Owen stopped Swindon’s attempts to secure a 2-1 Steeldogs victory and two valuable points.
It left Sheffield with two points from their opening two league fixtures.
Solway also finished the opening weekend with two points after following their win over the Steeldogs with a 4-2 road defeat against Hull Seahawks.
After two games, Solway and Sheffield therefore sat next to one another in the early NIHL standings, making Sunday’s meeting another important opportunity for both clubs to build some early-season momentum.
Another Busy Weekend
Before attention turns fully to Sunday, both teams have difficult Saturday-night assignments.
The Steeldogs head to Telford for a 7.00pm face-off against the Tigers, while Solway welcome Swindon Wildcats to the Dumfries Ice Bowl, also at 7.00pm.
That means both sides will arrive at iceSheffield on Sunday having played the previous evening, placing an extra emphasis on recovery, squad depth and getting off to a strong start.
For the Steeldogs, it is also an opportunity to build on the atmosphere and result from their first home league outing against Swindon.
