The Sheffield Steeldogs are thrilled to confirm that CJ Garcia has signed a new two-year agreement with the club ahead of the 2026/27 season.
In what represents a major statement of intent from the organisation, Garcia commits his future to Sheffield after an outstanding debut season in the NIHL National League.
Arriving for his first year in the division, after spending two seasons in the EIHL with the Manchester Storm; Garcia quickly established himself as one of the premier defencemen in the League, recording an exceptional 10 goals and 41 assists in 48 games from the blue line.
His influence was recognised both on the ice and within the dressing room, with Garcia also being selected as the Coach’s Player of the Year at the end-of-season awards night.
Combining offensive production, elite skating ability and composure on the puck with dependable all-round play, Garcia became one of the standout performers in the Steeldogs roster and a player the club made a clear priority to retain this summer.

CJ made an outstanding impact in his first season with us and established himself as one of the premier defencemen in the league. CJ is a true professional who sets standards every day through the way he prepares, competes, and carries himself. That was recognised perfectly when he was voted Coaches’ Player of the Year at our end-of-season awards. That honour speaks volumes about the respect he earned internally from the staff and the impact he had across the whole group.
