The Sheffield Steeldogs are delighted to announce the signing of highly rated 16-year-old forward Oliver Jardine for the 2026/27 season.
Oliver joins the Steeldogs on a two-way agreement with the Whitley Warriors and becomes one of the club’s exciting young additions ahead of the new campaign. Despite his young age, Oliver impressed during his time with the Warriors and has shown great potential as he continues his development in senior hockey.
Everyone at the club is looking forward to seeing Oliver in Steeldogs colours and watching his future continue to grow in Sheffield.

Steeldogs General Manager Jamie McIlroy said:
“Whenever somebody of Tony Hand’s stature contacts you directly to recommend a player, you immediately pay attention. Tony’s knowledge of the game, and particularly of young British talent, is second to none, so that recommendation carried significant weight with us from the outset.
Ollie is a player we believe has a very bright future ahead of him. He’s a young player with good habits, strong hockey sense, and a genuine willingness to learn and develop. Importantly, this isn’t about rushing a player too quickly; it’s about creating an environment where he can continue progressing at the right pace whilst being exposed to a higher standard on a regular basis.
This agreement is something we believe is genuinely beneficial for all parties involved. Ollie continues to receive valuable game opportunities with Whitley, whilst also integrating into our environment, training habits, and expectations here in Sheffield. We see this as a positive example of clubs working collaboratively to support the development of young British players.”
Speaking On His Signing, Ollie Said:
“I’m very grateful for this two-way opportunity with the Steeldogs, allowing me to test myself at the next level. Everything about Steeldogs hockey sounds exciting and promising for my future. When I heard about this opportunity, I was instantly eager to find out more. I want to learn as much as I can from my teammates and coaches at Sheffield. I can’t wait to meet everyone and do my best for the team.”
Whitley Warriors Head Coach MBE Tony Hand On Oliver Jardine Joining The Steeldogs:
“Ollie is a hard working player that can benefit from working with the Steeldogs when available and will benefit from the link up.”

Welcome to the Steeldogs Ollie!
