The TriggerHub Sheffield Steeldogs took on the Telford Tigers and what a road performance the Steeldogs gave the fans!
Once again it was another early goal to open the scoring for the Steeldogs. Kyle Watson drew first blood scoring the Steeldogs’ first of the game at 1:15. Telford found themselves in the penalty box but that didn’t stop the Tigers from getting a shorthanded goal through David Thomson at 5:57. CJ Garcia answered back at 10:02 scoring from the point to make it 2-1. Once again Telford answered back a short while later this time through Patrick Brown on the powerplay to make it 2-2. That wouldn’t get the Steeldogs down as Walker Sommer scored just over a minute after Telford’s second goal to give the Steeldogs a lead once again. More dominance from the Steeldogs saw Kyle Watson net his second goal of the night at 19:07 to make it 4-2 after the first 20 minutes.
The second period started of with Steeldogs seeing a lot more of the puck whilst Telford had the odd chances. Oldale was called into action a few times in the period. One standout was a scramble infront of the Steeldogs goal. The Steeldogs defence and Oldale made sure the puck stayed clear of the goal. At 35:05 Bair Gendunov netted the Steeldogs’ fifth of the game which was closely followed by a hattrick goal from Kyle Watson at 37:50.
Period 3 got underway. Telford made a change in goal with Brad Day making way for Ben Norton. It took just 21 seconds for the Steeldogs to get their 7th of the game. Walker Sommer got his second of the night. Less than 30 seconds later Joonas Larinmaa fired the puck past Norton to finish the game off.
Final score: Telford Tigers 2-8 Sheffield Steeldogs
Man of the Match for the Steeldogs went to CJ Garcia who got himself a 3 point night with 1 goal and 2 assists.
