Leeds Knights 7-1 Sheffield Steeldogs

A tough night on the road for the Steeldogs as a depleted side travelled to Leeds for a return fixture in the Yorkshire Cup.

Steeldogs were without Samuel Tremblay who was away with the Steelers in the Champions Hockey League but did welcome back Jonathan Phillips for his first outing of the season

There was to be no repeat of the heroics of last weeks game which saw the Steeldogs go down by one in a 15 goal 8-7 shoot out.

Leeds showed why they are still the team to beat and handed the Steeldogs a 7-1 beating with former Steeldogs Kieran Brown and Matt Bissonnette picking up points but with Jordan Buesa stealing the spoils with a 4 goals night.

It was a tight first period with the Steeldogs in contention just 2-1 down after Sam Cooper had found the net for the visitors.

Ben Norton came up with some fine saves at the start of the second period as the Knights attacked shorthanded, they eventually scored their third goal through Jordan Buesa, his hat trick strike and a fourth from Oliver Endicott to take a 4-1 lead into the final period.

Buesa scored his fourth and Kieran Brown notched two more as the Knights ran away with this one.

Steeldogs are back in action at ICE Sheffield on Saturday night as Hull Seahawkes arrive in town.

The Steeldogs will be looking to repeat their victory last week on the road in Hull and pick up some more valuable Yorkshire Cup points
